CLEVELAND — Tap Packaging Solutions competed against about 200 entries in the 30th annual packagePRINTING excellence Awards, and the century-old, Cleveland-based packaging manufacturer stole first place in two distinct categories.

Tap’s submission, "Fleurir Chocolates - Taste the Nation, Bar by Bar," took First Place in the Digital Folding Cartons category. The chocolate bar boxes made for client Fleurir Chocolates were designed by Tap’s Graphic Design Engineer, Brittany Vazquez, and printed using Variable Print Technology on Tap’s HP Indigo 30000 Digital Press. There were a total of six versions of “regional” chocolate bar boxes — each made to contain a chocolate bar with ingredients sourced from different regions of the United States. “Fleurir Chocolates — Taste the Nation, Bar by Bar,” was also a winner of HP's 2016 Inspiration Awards.

Tap also took First Place in the Offset Corrugated category for the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey Gift Set. The corrugated packaging was designed by Tap’s Graphic Design Engineer, Mike Willis, and printed onto 10 pt Tango C1S SBS on one of Tap’s Five-Color Heidelberg Offset Presses, before it was laminated onto n-flute corrugated. The inside is lined with 100# uncoated white litho.

Tap’s winners are showcased in the August issue of packagePRINTING, and you can see them exhibited at an awards gala at  GRAPH EXPO 16.
