CLEVELAND – Cleveland-based Tap Packaging Solutions, a manufacturer of consumer packaging, is growing fast and seeking to expand its workforce.
Located in Cleveland since 1906, Tap has survived two world wars, multiple economic recessions, changing technologies, and yes, several heartbreaking Cleveland sports seasons. When the digital revolution forever changed the landscape of its core product line, professional photographic packaging, Tap was determined to evolve.
In 2008, demand for Tap’s line of photo packaging, including photo mounts, senior picture folios, sports photo easels and thousands more, drastically decreased – as pictures that were once printed and shared physically were now posted and shared digitally. In the face of a declining core market, Tap moved fast to adapt to a new one, adding advanced capabilities and premium equipment. In 2011, Tap launched into the premium confection market, and today has achieved much success with a strong national presence, 1000 confection customers and customers in each of the 50 states.
As the company gears up for continued growth in the confection, cosmetic and food and beverage markets, it is looking to increase capacity – and that means adding jobs. Tap’s desire to expand parallels that of many other manufacturing corporations, as the entire industry has recently experienced widespread growth. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, more than 12 million Americans hold manufacturing positions and the average manufacturing worker currently makes $15,000 more than employees in other industries.[1] Ohio has led the way in this manufacturing revival, adding more than 50,000 jobs in the state over the last four years, bringing the state’s industry total to around 690,000 employees – third-most in the country only behind California and Texas.[2] Greater Cleveland has significantly contributed as well, providing more than 12,000 new jobs over the same time frame.[3]
Tap has endured its fair share of ups and downs throughout its 109-year existence in Cleveland, but one thing has remained true – its employees have always been the number one asset. As an employee-owned and ISO 9001:2008 certified company, Tap’s emphasis on teamwork, development, improvement, and empowerment has created an atmosphere that employees embrace. President and Chief Executive Officer J. Anthony Hyland said, “Being an employee-owned business gives workers a vested interest in the company, which creates a positive work environment – one that focuses on productivity and efficiency.”
Tap is seeking candidates that are determined to make an immediate impact on the company. Tap offers numerous benefits to its employees including, healthcare benefits, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), a 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and free retirement counseling.
