‘Tis the season for chocolate gift giving and, in this spirit, we want to highlight our customer Romolo Chocolates and tell you a bit about the origins of this family business.
Tony Stefanelli, owner of Romolo Chocolates, is a visionary when it comes to brand, chocolates, and business. His grandfather came to this country from Italy and brought to the family a passion for confections. Tony studied under his grandfather, Romolo Stefanelli, for more than 43 years before opening Romolo Chocolates in their hometown of Erie, Pa. in 2004. Today, the must-stop destination for Erie natives and visitors alike offers a chocolate shop, a gift shop, and a café. The chocolate shop features over 200 confections, but the most well-known is Grandpa Romolo’s Famous Sponge Candy. In addition to their own retail and e-commerce stores, Romolo Chocolates is sold at select Giant Eagle and Wegmans grocery stores.
In 2020, Romolo Chocolates rebranded, retiring their floral box design in celebration of a new, modern look with bold and vibrant color that is incorporated throughout the Brand. This is the packaging that Tap makes today for Romolo.
